Check these out: Civil War Mustering Event (Feb. 20-21) and Back of the Big House (Feb. 6) both at the Historic Latta Plantation in Charlotte. For something a little more “upbeat”, plan to go to the Drum for Community (every Sat. in Feb.) for a time of storytelling, drumming and dancing. If you are looking for inspiration, the Friends of Arts at Queens University is showcasing the majesty and peace of landscapes seen in the works of Joann Sieburg-Baker on Feb. 26th (www.js-b.com). All of these events are in the Charlotte area, and they are either free or offer senior discounts.
